Full Review:
When I first saw the preview for this movie, I was walking past the living room while the commercial was on, and I only saw part of it, and I didn't get the name of the movie. My first impression was that they are finally coming out with the new Indiana Jones movie, they have been talking about for years. That got me confused because I saw Matthew McConaughey (Dirk Pitt) in the trailer but I didn't see Harrison Ford, I remember thinking I guess they got a new Indiana Jones. I didn't think too much more about the movie until a few weeks ago when I saw the full trailer and I realized that it wasn't a new Indiana Jones movie, but a totally new movie. I wasn't sure if I was going to watch it in the theater or wait for it to come out on DVD. Well my wife and I were at the movies last weekend and we decided to take a chance on Sahara since we didn't know what to expect.

Going into the movie I thought this was going to be a total action flick. My first impression was true, but I soon realized that this wasn't just an action flick it had some comedy too, and it was pretty good comedy. I have to say this movie made me laugh more then most comedies. It was a pleasant surprise, and because of it, it helps distance itself away from other action films. This movie reminds me a lot like Rush Hour, it has lots of action, and humor, and I bet it was a whole lot of fun to make.

Steve Zahn (Al Giordino) is a truly funny man, and the chemistry between Steve and Matthew, is pretty good. Some people don't work well together, but these two do, and because of it, it makes the movie much better. Now who can't forget Penelope Cruz (Eva Rojas), who is the WHO (World Health Organization) Doctor, that Dirk and Al meet up with on one of their adventures. She was great in this role.

I have never read any of the Dirk Pitt books, so I won't be able to tell you if they stuck to the books or not, but I can tell you that this movie was truly entertaining. At the end of the movie they leave it open for a possibility of a sequel and I hope they do make another one. This could be the next Indiana Jones series that we have been waiting for.

If you liked movies like Indiana Jones, and Rush Hour you will like this one. Go and see it today, you won't be disappointed.
