Wow! This is one long movie. I have never read the books so I don't know if the movie is the same of the book, but all I know is that this movie is very long, and it was a good idea to break up the story into 3 movies, because to tell you the truth my butt couldn't stand being in that movie seat any longer.
For those of you who have never read the books, and have no clue what the story is about I'll try and sum it up as best as I can. A long time ago there were a bunch of magical rings made, and they were given to all of the important people on the planet. All of the rings were equal in power. At the same time this bad guy made his own ring, a ring of evil that was more powerful then all of the other rings. Anyway, the bad guy wrecks havoc on the planet for a while until one day he gets killed and the only thing left is his ring which gets lost for thousands of years. Now along comes this hobbit who finds the ring and eventually it is decided that they need to destroy the ring, so that no one can ever posses it again. So these 9 guys volunteer to bring it to this big volcano where it will be destroyed. The first movie concentrates on these 9 guys and their journey. The 9 guys are called the Fellowship of the Ring.
The Movie was very well done, it had great special effects and it looked very believable. The story is good, but way to long, they could have cut a lot of the stuff out of the movie and it would have had the same effect. I think the problem was that when they were making this movie, they had to put every detail into the movie that was in the book, because if they didn't then the Lord of the Ring Nerds would complain on how it wasn't the same. I have read some postings on how some people thought the movie wasn't as good as the book, and certain people shouldn't have been cast for certain parts. People like that are the ones that ruin movies for lots of people. Who cares if the movie isn't the same as the book in every detail, live with it. I think the movie is fine the way it is.
This isn't the greatest movie I have seen, but at the same time it isn't the worse. I would recommend this movie to who ever read the books, or if you like fantasy adventure. If you can't seat in a theater for 3 hours strait I would wait for it to come to video. |
