I have to say that I was surprised by how much I have enjoyed this movie. Reese Witherspoon has now surprised me with two movies in a row, the first time with Legally Blonde and now with Sweet Home Alabama.
At first glance Sweet Home Alabama looks like a chic flick and nothing more, but it actually had a nice story and plot, and to top it off some humor.
Reese's southern accent is probably the only off key thing about this movie, everything else seems to work well, the actors match the characters very well, they did a good job casting believable people for the parts.
Here is the story, very brief and without ruining any parts of the movie for you. Reese Witherspoon plays Melanie, an up and coming fashion designer in New York City, and she is dating the Mayors son, and everything is looking good. So good in fact that the Mayors son asks her to marry her, which is all in good, except for the fact that she is still married to someone back home in Alabama. She now has to go back home, and get her husband to sign her divorce pages so that she can get married. Sounds simple enough don't you think? If so check out the movie, to see what really happens.
I wouldn't recommend this movie to a bunch of guys, but I would recommend it to a guy who is looking for a good date movie. This movie is still technically a chic flick but the guy can enjoy it as well. Check it out if you have the chance, I don't think you will be disappointed. |
