This is a cute movie that most women will enjoy. I have watched it several times, and it is a movie you can watch again and not be tired of. It is set in New York City and Alabama and stars Reese Witherspoon as Melanie Smooter. She grew up in Alabama and threw off her southern country upbringing to move to NYC and become a fashion designer. The movie is centered around her engagement to the son, played by Patrick Dempsey, of the mayor of NYC, played by Candace Bergin. Melanie has to return home to introduce him to her parents and faces things from her past she tried to distance herself from. Even fiancee knows little of her life in Alabama. Will Melanie get married? Who is Jake, played by Josh Lucas, and what does he have to do with her past? This is a fun movie, with good characters and a good sound track. I really enjoyed it and I think most people would. It's light and fun, a good movie anytime.
