The Chronicles of Narnia is one of those stories, that's just so honest, you can't bear to see it marred by impurity. And when you learn that the director is the guy who directed Shrek, it should seem that a lot of impurities will be coming your way.



But isn't that the thing about great director's? you originally think 'That's what their all about' but then they turn around and smack you in the face with something totally different? This kind of revalation can't be displayed in The Chronicles of Narnia, the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe.



The first thing that comes to your mind is the honest beauty of the film. It plays out a simple, but fantastic kind of reality. A movie doesn't need to show the the gangs of New York or the gritty realism of WWII to convey reality, it simply must convey the thoughts of the human mind, no matter what the setting is.



The other thing about this film, is the delicate care of the world that has been created. This world has been made through flawless sets, armor and weaponry. There is no crudeness or commercialism in the creation of it, it simply is. It reflects that no matter how crude or commercial the human mind can be, when it comes to handling the powerful and pure memories of the mind, it can not be helped but to handle it with care.



Though the CGI leaves much to be desired, the film doesn't rely on it as a crutch, so not much is taken away from it. You will find some faults in the acting of the child cast as well, though it is not in the way that seems as if they do not care about the story, they are truly trying their best, which is why the the acting is exusable, simply because the honesty in what they're doing shines through.
